Meanwhile, in Lithuania...
Lithuanian security services have warned that Russia is boosting efforts to disseminate "propaganda" via the Baltic nation's mass media and online social networks.
Lithuania's State Security Department (VDS) said in a February 23 statement that it has observed "increasingly obvious Russian efforts to instigate an information war and seek the widest possible dissemination of propaganda by Lithuanian mass media, and online media, and social networks."
It added that "representatives of foreign countries" other than Russia could approach Lithuanian media outlets to pitch "information favorable to Russia."
The VDS urged journalists to "resist possible Russian provocations."
Lithuania was among a group of EU countries who called on the bloc in January to create information alternatives to Russian "disinformation" deployed by the Kremlin to counter Western criticism over the war in Ukraine.
