Kiev forces shell militia positions in east Ukraine almost 40 times - local defence ministry
MOSCOW (TASS) -- Ukrainian military action has violated
ceasefire arrangements in war-torn eastern territory almost 40 times over the last 24 hours, a Defence Ministry spokesman for the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic said on Monday.
"For 37 times the Ukrainian side has shelled the republic," the Donetsk News Agency quoted the spokesman. "Once again we have registered the enemy use artillery."

Reports Say Kerry, Lavrov To Hold Talks May 12
Russian news agencies are reporting that U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry will meet with his Russian counterpart, Sergei Lavrov, in the Black Sea resort of Sochi on May 12 to discuss ongoing unrest in Ukraine, Syria, and Yemen.
State news agency RIA Novosti cited a source as saying the Kremlin hopes Kerry will bring new proposals on settling the conflict in eastern Ukraine.
The unnamed source said that Lavrov plans to tell Kerry that military support for Ukraine is unacceptable.
The source told RIA Novosti that Moscow does not expect a "breakthrough" from Kerry's visit but still called the visit "very important."
