U.S. forces organized an exhibition of military vehicles and equipment in the Moldova capital, Chisinau, on May 8, the day commemorating the end of World War II in Europe. Supporters of the opposition Socialist Party protested against the display, chanting "NATO, go home," "Moldova is a neutral state," and "We don't want war." Moldova is officially neutral, but its pro-Western government has good relations with NATO. Some 200 U.S. forces are taking part in military maneuvers alongside the Moldovan army until May 20.
