U.S. President Donald Trump said on June 18 the United States would not be a "migrant camp," as he blamed Democrats for not coming to the table to negotiate immigration legislation. Trump’s administration is under pressure to stop separating children from their parents at the U.S.-Mexico border. The separations are part of a "zero tolerance" policy in which all those apprehended entering the United States illegally, including those seeking asylum, are criminally charged. Some 2,000 children are estimated to be kept by the U.S. immigration authorities in separate facilities from their relatives.
