The town of Baltiysk on Russia's Vistula Spit was once a strategic military zone, and until recently, only armed services personnel and local residents could get there. Today, the spit has turned into an open-air museum that is visited by about 100,000 people a year. But historical buildings are under threat from the elements and tourism.
