Acid Attack Targets Leading Kyrgyz Police Official


BISHKEK -- The chief of staff of the Kyrgyz Interior Ministry was severely wounded on April 22 in an acid attack, RFE/RL's Kyrgyz Service reports.

An unknown attacker reportedly poured more than one liter of sulphuric acid on Colonel Kyrkkeldy Kydyrbaev as he entered his apartment building in Bishkek.

He is hospitalized in serious condition with severe burns.

An investigation is under way.
