Unknown assailants shot at the windows of an apartment belonging to a local human rights activist in the southwestern Russian city of Samara, RFE/RL's Russian Service reports.
The apartment belongs to Aleksandr Lashmankin, the chief editor of the Liberty Human Rights Information Center.
No one was injured in the incident.
Lashmankin told RFE/RL that the attack may have been connected to his professional activities.
Two years ago, Lashmankin was attacked near his apartment.
His colleague, Lyudmila Kuzmina, says she believes the latest incident, on April 28, was a warning to Lashmankin from local authorities.
His information center reports about human rights violations in the city and region.
