'At Least Three Civilians' Killed In Afghan Attacks

Afghan officials say bomb blasts have killed at least three civilians and wounded dozens more.

The country's Interior Ministry said one person died when a bomb strapped to a wheelbarrow exploded in the eastern city of Jalalabad near a NATO military base today.

NATO said the Taliban had attacked the base early on November 13 in a skirmish that reportedly left eight militants dead.

In the southern province of Kandahar, which borders Pakistan, provincial government spokesman Zalmai Ayoubi said a motorcycle bomb attack today killed another two people.

The United Nations says the number of Afghan civilians killed rose by a third in early 2010 to a total of 1,271.
