Electricity Rationing Continues In Northern Tajikistan

KHUJAND, Tajikistan -- Officials from the energy supply company Barqi Tojik have said that due to higher temperatures and additional power imports from neighboring countries, electricity rationing in the center of northern Sughd Province has been suspended, RFE/RL's Tajik Service reports.

But RFE/RL reports that rationing in the districts and villages of the province is unchanged.

Inhabitants of villages say they still have electricity only one hour or even 30 minutes per day.

Electricity rationing in Sughd Province was introduced in October.
