BISHKEK -- Kyrgyz opposition movements, split into seven different political parties, have gathered to discuss joining into one, RFE/RL's Kyrgyz Service reports.

Leading opposition activist Azimbek Beknazarov told RFE/RL that the proposed United People’s Movement would concentrate its efforts on undermining the current Kyrgyz leadership.

RFE/RL has been declared an "undesirable organization" by the Russian government.
