In an article called "David Plouffe And The Call Of Oil," Ken Silverstein of "Harper's Magazine" has harsh words for the Obama campaign manager's current visit to Azerbaijan, first reported by RFE/RL:

Plouffe was invited by a pro-government group headed up by hacks loyal to the regime. Whatever his motivation is, and I could make a pretty good guess, democracy in not high on the list.

Meanwhile,'s Ben Smith quoted a Plouffe associate as saying that the "key, unpaid adviser to Obama for America" would be "speaking to university students 'about the 2008 election and the power of grassroots people to make change -- focusing on the role of younger voters. He'll be focusing on the power of democracy and what it means to people around the world.'"
