NATO Says Top Taliban Commander In Kandahar Killed

NATO said today its troops and Afghan government forces have killed Mullah Zergay, indentified as a top Taliban commander for the Kandahar area.

A NATO statement said Zergay "directed insurgent activities in the Arghandab and Zharay districts including Kandahar City" and that Zergay was "directly responsible for multiple deaths in Kandahar City alone."

The statement said Zergay was killed last week during a firefight when troops tried to capture him.
