Twelve Afghan Police Killed In Insurgent Attacks

Twelve Afghan police officers have been reported killed in attacks by suspected Taliban militants in the south and east of the country.

Police said five policemen were killed during a raid on a police post on the outskirts of the southeastern city of Ghazni overnight.

Two more policemen were killed in Khogyani district of eastern Nangarhar Province on June 14 in an insurgent ambush.

In the central province of Wardak, four policemen were killed when their vehicle was blown up by a roadside bomb. One more police officer was killed in a similar bombing in the southern province of Kandahar.

Casualties among NATO troops and Aghan forces have escalated in recent weeks, but fatalities have been worst among the Afghan police force.
