The U.S. military says it is sending 1,000 laser-guided bomb kits to Pakistan this month to help the country's air force defeat insurgents operating in the Afghan border region.
U.S. Air Force Secretary Michael Donley said the arm sales are in response to a request from the chief of the Pakistani Air Force.
He said the United States has already agreed to sell Pakistan night-vision goggles and munitions.
He added that Pakistan is also set to receive 18 new F-16 fighter jets from the U.S. manufacturer Lockheed Martin to help fight "radical elements" in the border region.
