KYIV ---Rescue workers from Tajikistan's Ministry for Emergency Situations have found two of the three Ukrainian mountaineers missing in the Pamir Mountains, RFE/RL's Ukrainian Service reports.

Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Oleksandr Dikusarov told journalists today that one of the mountaineers was taken to hospital, and the second joined the rescue team looking for the third missing climber.

An official from the Ukrainian Consulate in Tashkent has arrived in Tajikistan to provide assistance to the rescued Ukrainians.

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry press service said on August 11 that the Tajik Defense Ministry sent a helicopter to the region to search for the missing mountaineers.

Two of the mountaineers were reported missing last week. They were searching for a colleague who reportedly fell off a cliff and disappeared on July 31.
