Azerbaijani Activist Receives 10-Year Prison Sentence

A Baku court has sentenced pro-democracy activist Qiyas Ibrahimov to 10 years in prison for drug trafficking -- a charge filed shortly after he spray-painted an antigovernment slogan on a monument to the country's former president. Amnesty International called the charges a "shocking assault on freedom of expression." (RFE/RL's Azerbaijani Service)
