Hundreds of Bahrainis have gathered in the capital Manama to bury an activist killed when security forces earlier this week cracked down on mainly Shi'ite protesters demanding political reform in the Sunni-ruled kingdom.

At least three protesters were killed when security forces used tanks and armored vehicles to drive protesters off the streets of Manama on March 16.

Three policemen also died during the crackdown. No security forces were seen today as mourners gathered for activist Ahmed Farhan's funeral despite a ban on all public gatherings under an emergency rule declared by the king.
