British PM Cameron On Surprise Visit To Afghanistan

U.K. Prime Minister David Cameron, on an unannounced visit to Afghanistan on July 4, said while Afghan security forces were "increasingly confident," Britain planned to withdraw a "relatively small" number of troops.

Cameron arrived on a Royal Air Force plane at Camp Bastion, the main British and U.S. base in the southern Helmand Province.

He said he had cancelled a visit to the town of Lashkar Gah so helicopters could be used in the search of a missing British soldier.

There are currently 9,500 British troops in Afghanistan.
