MONDAY, February 21:

Azerbaijan: Lithuania’s Special Representative for Protracted Conflicts Giedrius Cekuolis visits Baku to discuss ways to settle the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

EU: Brussels hosts a meeting of the EU foreign ministers with Bosnia-Herzegovina, the South Caucasus, and the Middle East on the agenda.

Kazakhstan: Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbaev visits China (to February 23).

Pakistan: Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari visits Japan (to February 23).

Russia: Trial of suspects in the Markelov-Baburova murder case is scheduled to begin in Moscow.

Serbia: UN chief war crimes prosecutor for the former Yugoslavia Serge Brammertz visits Belgrade.


TUESDAY, February 22:

Armenia/OSCE: Presentation of analytical country report on Armenian civil society to be held in Yerevan.

Serbia: Contempt trial of Serbian nationalist leader Vojislav Seselj begins in The Hague.

World: International Energy Forum (IEF), the world’s largest gathering of energy ministers, opens in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.


WEDNESDAY, February 23:

Armenia: U.S. Deputy Secretary of State James Steinberg and Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Philip Gordon visit Yerevan (to February 24).

Azerbaijan/Ukraine: Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov visits Kyiv.

Iran: Kerman hosts its first International Clean Energy Conference.


THURSDAY, February 24:

GUAM: Foreign ministers of the GUAM countries (Georgia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, and Moldova) meet in Kyiv.

OSCE: Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe holds its plenary session in Vienna (to February 25).

Russia: Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin visits EU headquarters with a strong government delegation.

Russia: Russia chooses its Person of the Year 2010.

Russia: Spain's royal family visits St. Petersburg (to February 25).

Ukraine: NATO Secretary-General Anders Fogh Rasmussen pays a one-day visit to Kyiv.


FRIDAY, February 25:

Georgia/Czech Republic: Georgian Foreign Minister Grigol Vashadze visits Prague.

Russia/Armenia: Russian President Dmitry Medvedev meets with President of Armenia Serzh Sarkisian in St. Petersburg.


SATURDAY, February 26:

Azerbaijan: Azerbaijan commemorates the Khojaly tragedy of 1992.
