The U.S. State Department says Secretary of State Hillary Clinton hopes to be back to work next week, after being treated for a blood clot.

State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland told reporters that Clinton is resting at home but is speaking with her senior staff.

Nuland said Clinton is "sounding terrific, upbeat and raring to go."

Clinton, 65, was admitted to hospital on January 30 after a routine scan revealed a clot between her brain and skull stemming from a concussion she suffered in December.

She left hospital on January 2 and doctors say they expect her to make a full recovery.
