Deadly Blast In Baku Store Said Caused By Gas Leak

Authorities in Azerbaijan say an explosion that killed one person at a store on the outskirts of the capital on October 8 was caused by a gas leak.

The Interior Ministry announced on October 9 that the leak led to a blast in a refrigerator in an underground storage area at the "Army Market" store in the settlement of Balacari (read Ba-la-ja-ry) near Baku.

One person was killed and eight others injured in the explosion, which damaged the storage area's concrete roof and two parked cars.

It shattered windows of the nine-story apartment building that houses the strore.
