Iran's foreign minister has extended his tour of the Persian Gulf region.

In a December 3 post on his Facebook page, Mohammad Javad Zarif said he will visit the United Arab Emirates on December 4.

Zarif on December 1 began his first visit to the Western-allied gulf states since Tehran and the West struck a nuclear deal last month.

He tweeted on December 2 that his "meetings with leaders of Kuwait, Oman, and Qatar demonstrated that what unites us is far greater than our minor differences."

Shi'ite-dominated Iran has had a tense relationship with predominantly Sunni Gulf Arab states.

Saudi Arabia and Iran are seen as major rivals in the Middle East.

But the Gulf Arab states have now welcomed Iran's nuclear deal with the major global powers.

RFE/RL has been declared an "undesirable organization" by the Russian government.
