Kazakh Police Surround Armed Group After Two Officers Shot

ALMATY, Kazakhstan -- Police in Kazakhstan's largest city, Almaty, have reportedly surrounded an armed group in an apartment as part of a hunt for the shooters of two police officers.

RFE/RL's correspondent reports that gunshots were heard in the area on July 30, and fire trucks and ambulances were at the scene.

Police say they have been searching for three suspects after two police officers were shot on July 28 in Almaty.

One of the officers was killed and the other seriously injured.
