Kazakh Army Officer Detained Over Shooting


Officials in Kazakhstan say they are investigating a shooting by an army officer that injured two other soliders.

The incident occurred on July 22 in the town of Priozyorsk.

Officials said the alleged shooter -- identified only as a 26-year-old senior lieutenant -- opened fire with a pistol during an argument.

Officials said a captain and a colonel were wounded and have been hospitalized.

The suspected gunman has been detained on suspicion of attempted murder.
