Clashes in a maximum security prison in northern Kyrgyzstan have left several prison guards injured, RFE/RL's Kyrgyz Service reports.
The clashes took place at prison number 16 in Chui Oblast, 40 kilometers north of Bishkek.
Kyrgyz Ombudsman Tursunbek Akun told RFE/RL that inmates clashed with a group of prison guards late in the night on March 14.
Akun said two of his representatives are at the prison trying to determine what happened. It is not clear whether any prisoners were also injured. Read more in Kyrgyz here
