BISHKEK -- The Kyrgyz authorities have extradited to the Russian Federation a Russian citizen wanted for alleged terrorism and involvement in creating an armed criminal group, RFE/RL's Kyrgyz Service reports.
Kyrgyz State Committee for National Security (UKMK) officials told journalists in Bishkek that the suspect, whom they identified only by his surname, Akhtakhanov, left Bishkek aboard a plane to Moscow earlier on October 21.
Akhtakhanov, 35, is originally from Chechnya. He was detained by Kyrgyz security troops in the village of Lebedinovka near Bishkek on August 8, after which the Kyrgyz and Russian Prosecutor Generals began negotiations on his extradition to Russia.
