U.S.-led Coalition Carries Out 20 Strikes In Iraq, Syria
The U.S.-led coalition has carried out 20 air strikes against the IS group in Syria and Iraq on January 13, the U.S. Department of Defense says.
Three strikes in Syria hit IS near Manbij and Mar'a.
In Iraq, were conducted by attack, bomber, fighter, ground attack and remotely piloted aircraft and hit hear Hit, Mosul, Kisik, Ramadi, Sinjar, Sultan Abdallah, Tel Afar, Habbaniyah and Beiji.
Russian & Syrian Warplanes Carry Out First Joint Mission -- Ministry
Russia's Defense Ministry has released a video that it says shows Russian and Syrian warplanes carrying out their first joint mission in Syria.
According to the Ministry, Syrian MiG 29 jets provided cover for Russian Su-25 jets from the Hmeymim air base in Latakia province, while the Russian jets carried out sorties against "terrorist targets."
IS Briefly Seize Iraqi Village East Of Tikrit
The IS group briefly overran the village of Tal Kusaiba in northern Iraq this morning, though the Iraqi army retook it hours later in a counter attack.
The IS assault killed Tal Kusaiba's police station chief and nine fighters from a Shi'ite militia and Sunni tribal forces.

The IS group has issued an official statement claiming responsibility for today's attacks in Jakarta.
Analyst Charlie Winter has tweeted the IS group's claim of responsibility for the Jakarta attacks. The claim says there were four attackers who used light weapons and suicide vests.
British Mother 'Took Toddler To Join IS'
A British mother is alleged to have taken her toddler to Syria to join the IS group and posed the child with guns for photos, a court in Birmingham has heard.
Tareena Shakil, 26, is thought to be the first British woman to have returned from IS-controlled territory to face terror charges.

Second Convoy Reaches Madaya
The second aid convoy in a week has reached the besieged Syrian town of Madaya.
The convoy of 40 trucks is carrying flour, medical supplies and hygiene products to the rebel-held town near the Lebanese border.
A smaller convoy is headed to two Shi'ite villages under siege by rebels.
Russia Says Assad's Fate Does Not Depend On Talks
In her press briefing this afternoon, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova also talked about Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and his fate, which she said did not depend on peace talks in Vienna or New York.
Instead, Assad's fate should be decided by the Syrian people, Zakharova said.
