CHISINAU -- A Moldovan composer says he was "insulted and humiliated" by Russian authorities who "mutilated" one of his works during the opening ceremony last week of the Winter Olympics in Sochi.

Eugen Doga, 76, wrote on his Facebook account and then told Moldovan media that the organizers did not contact or consult him about their intention to play bits of a waltz he wrote for the 1978 Soviet movie "My Sweet and Tender Beast."

Doga, who lives in Moscow but frequently travels to Chisinau, said that he is considering suing Olympic organizers for copyright infringement.

There was no immediate comment from the Russian side.
