A Ukrainian court has dismissed a state prosecutors' request to detain former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko who is on trial over alleged abuse of office.
Prosecutors had asked the court to detain Tymoshenko for repeatedly disrupting her trial, but the judge, Rodion Kireyev, said the court ruled to dismiss the motion on July 27.
Tymoshenko, the country's top opposition leader, has criticized her trial as an attempt by President Viktor Yanukovych to bar her from elections.
She has refused, as required, to stand up when addressing the judge and her supporters have repeatedly disrupted court hearings.
