BISHKEK -- Some 5,000 people have rallied in the southern Kyrgyzstan city of Jalal-Abad to demand the resignation of the national government in Bishkek.
Demonstrators at the peaceful rally held signs accusing the government of failing to keep its promises to issue low-interest loans to farmers and improve the economy.
Leaders of the opposition Ata-Jurt party, which lost its position as a ruling coalition party after the election of President Almazbek Atambaev in December, addressed the rally.
