Georgian Glass-Domed Presidential Palace

Georgian President-elect Giorgi Margvelashvili has offered to give the country's glass-domed presidential palace to a planned Georgian-American university. Giorgi Margvelashvili 's plan was proposed to the ruling Georgian Dream coalition's leadership. The palace was built between 2004 and 2009 and was used by outgoing President Mikheil Saakashvili and his administration. The complex will no longer house the presidential administration after Margvelashvili takes office on November 17. The new president will be based in a building under reconstruction in the center of Tbilisi that formerly housed the U.S. Embassy. (RFE/RL's Georgian Service )
