In the small Tatar village of Kazarovo in Siberia's Tyumen region, a monument honors Feliks Dzerzhinsky. He was the feared chief of the Soviet secret police, mostly under the leadership Vladimir Lenin. The statue was installed in 1980 but was removed in the mid-1990s after the fall of the Soviet Union. It was kept in a garage and reinstalled three years ago. As Russia remembers the victims of Soviet repression on October 30, RFE/RL spoke to people in the village to see how they feel about this controversial figure. (RFE/RL's Tatar-Bashkir Service)
