Casualties Reported In Russian Boat Collision


Russian news agencies are reporting that four people have been killed and 35 more injured in a collision between a passenger boat and a barge in southwestern Siberia.

Russia's Emergency Situations Ministry said that the accident happened on the Irtysh River in the Omsk region on August 17.

Ministry spokesperson Irina Rossius told the ITAR-TASS news agency that 10 of the injured were in a serious condition.

Officials have launched an investigation into the accident.

The Irtysh River is widely used for transportation between April and October when it is not frozen.
