Officials in Russia's Olympic city of Sochi have designated a venue where people can protest or rally about issues unrelated to the Winter Olympics, which will be held in Sochi next month.
Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Kozak said the site was located in Sochi's Khosta district.
He said that "we hope that no [protests] will be held during the Olympic Games, which are not a political event."
Russian human rights ombudsman Vladimir Lukin said he visited the venue and it could be "easily reached" by car, bus, or train.
Russia has received international criticism for passing a law that bans distributing "gay propaganda" to minors.
Some rights activists and organizations have called for a boycott of the games, which will be held from February 6 to 23.
