Russian Official Reprimanded For Media Disclosures


MOSCOW -- The Moscow Oblast Investigative Committee has officially reprimanded an employee for disclosing information without consulting her supervisors, RFE/RL's Russian Service reports.

Russian Investigative Committee officials announced today that Irina Gumennaya of the Investigative Committee's press service was reprimanded for distributing information last week about the planned questioning of the prosecutor-general's son.

It did not disclose how Gumennaya was reprimanded.

On March 30, Gumennaya told journalists that the Investigative Committee plans to summon Artyom Chaika, son of Prosecutor-General Yury Chaika, for questioning about a criminal case alleging that several top officials in the Prosecutor-General's Office are involved with illegal gambling businesses in the Moscow Oblast.
