Heavy Snow Paralyzes Tajik Capital's International Airport

DUSHANBE -- Tajik authorities in Dushanbe had to suspend operations at the international airport in the capital today due to heavy snow and fog, RFE/RL's Tajik Service reports.

Airport officials said arriving flights from the Russian cities of Novosibirsk, St. Petersburg, and Surgut have been transferred to the city of Khujand.

They said the operations of the Dushanbe airport will resume once weather conditions improve.

In October, Dushanbe airport officials had to suspend operations due to a dust storm.
