The government of energy-rich Turkmenistan has announced that owners of trucks, buses and tractors will lose the right to receive free gasoline supplies as of July.
Officials said owners of these vehicles have lost their right to get 1,200 liters of fuel every six months due to their "fraudulent activities and reluctance to pay taxes properly."
No details have been given by officials from the authoritarian government of cases in which vehicle owners allegedly abused their free fuel benefit.
However, officials said Turkmen owners of vehicles weighing no more than 3.5 tons with up to eight passenger seats will continue to receive 720 liters of free gasoline every six months.
Owners of motorcycles can also get 240 liters of free gasoline over the same period of time.
