Investigators at the scene of the shooting incident in Kharkiv on August 20.

A gunman and a police officer have been killed in a shootout in Ukraine's eastern city of Kharkiv near the city council building.

According to an August 20 statement from Ukraine's National Police, the unidentified gunman opened fire overnight on a group of police officers near the Kharkiv City Council.
