Speaking at a news conference in Kyiv, Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council Secretary Andriy Parubiy said:
"During tense clashes we managed to repel all terrorist attacks. But unfortunately, we confirm losses on the Ukrainian side during the overnight clashes."
"We predict that separatist activity is likely to increase in the next few days, because the aim of [Russian President Vladimir] Putin's ideology is to disrupt the presidential election on May 25."
"Near Rostov-on-Don, we found a big military training base used by terrorists planning to move forward on Ukraine's territory. It was confirmed by our intelligence as well as by prisoners taken by Ukrainian soldiers who gave us evidence concerning this base."
