A Ukrainian judge involved in a case involving pro-EU activists in the country's central Poltava region has been shot dead.
Ukraine's Interior Ministry said on February 12 that unknown attackers shot the judge, Oleksandr Lobodenko, in the city of Kremenchuk late on the previous evening.
Lobodenko died later from his injuries in a hospital.
Lobodenko, 34, had been involved in a decision to send several supporters of the ongoing antigovernment demonstrations to pretrial detention for their roles in storming and occupying the Kremenchuk City Council building for several days last month.
Investigators said they do not exclude the idea that the attack against Lobodenko was linked to his professional activities.
