The UN Security Council has backed Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon's bid to serve a second term.

The vote on June 17 came a day after permanent Security Council member Russia was the last on the council to announce it would back Ban's bid.

The UN General Assembly is expected to hold a formal vote on Ban's bid before the end of June.
