A 13-hour standoff in Dubai has ended after police arrested an Uzbek woman who claimed to be wearing an explosives belt but which turned out to be a fake.
The woman, accompanied by a child, entered the Dubai public prosecutor's office on September 1, threatening to blow herself up unless the authorities helped her to resolve a dispute with a man who she claimed was her son’s father.
Police said the incident ended peacefully early on September 2 when the woman surrendered the bogus explosives belt after negotiations, but gave no further details.
Authorities had evacuated the building as they negotiated with the woman.
