Tajikstan, U.S. Sign Security Agreement

(RFE/RL) March 10, 2006 (RFE/RL) -- The United States and Tajikistan today signed an agreement on increasing cooperation on border security and law enforcement issues, RFE/RL's Tajik Service reported.
Tajik Foreign Minister Talbak Nazarov told RFE/RL's Tajik Service that he signed the agreement with U.S. Ambassador to Tajikistan Richard Hoagland.


Then agreement foresees the United States continuing its assistance to Tajikistan in maintaining its border controls, as well as continued training of law enforcement and drug control agencies.


Part of the cooperation involves the United States supplying Tajikistan with equipment intended for law enforcement such as uniforms and vehicles.
