May 31, 2006 -- Officials in Afghanistan say Taliban fighters fired a grenade at a police vehicle in the southwestern Zabul Province overnight, killing a senior police official.
At least three police officers were injured in the attack.
The group was part of a reinforcement sent to help a police force who had come under Taliban attack.
An unnamed official said more than 10 police were killed in the assault.
Separately, in neighboring Oruzgan Province, suspected Taliban attacked a police base in the district of Chora. Details about the incident are unclear.
