OSCE Assembly Chooses Swede As President

U.S. Congressman Alcee Hastings (right), the outgoing head fof the OSCE assembly (epa) BRUSSELS, July 7, 2006 (RFE/RL) -- The Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization For Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) has a new president.

Representatives from the 43 countries that belong to the OSCE chose Goran Lennmarker of Sweden to replace U.S. Congressman Alcee Hastings, who was president for two years.


Lennmarker will serve a one-year term.
