Afghan, Coalition Troops Kill Nine Taliban

(RFE/RL) July 14, 2006 -- Afghan and coalition forces killed nine suspected Taliban fighters today in a clash in the southern province of Oruzgan.

Afghan officials said some six militants were wounded and one detained in the fighting, which lasted several hours late on July 13.

In the southeastern province of Khost, one policeman was wounded on July 14 when a suicide bomber detonated explosives strapped to his body as he approached a police patrol.
