Anzelika Borys (file photo) (Bymedia.net) October 31, 2006 (RFE/RL) -- Poland today protested to Belarus for harassing the former head of the ethnic Polish community in the country, RFE/RL's Belarus Service reported.

The Polish government said opposition politician Andzhelika Borys and two people who were traveling with her from Poland to Belarus were subjected to an "embarrassing procedure, including personal searches and psychiatric examinations."

Borys said the 10-hour inspection occurred on the border on October 10. Belarus's customs service said it found drugs in the travelers' car.
