Suicide Bomber Attack Fails In Afghanistan

Afghan National Army soldiers at the site of a suicide attack in Kandahar earlier this year (epa) November 25, 2006 -- Afghan authorities say a suicide car bomber exploded his vehicle near a convoy of NATO troops and Afghan police today, injuring two people but killing only himself.
Deputy provincial police chief Abdul Majid Latifi said the attack occurred in the Charkh area of central Logar Province, about 60 kilometers south of Kabul.

Insurgents have stepped up attacks around Afghanistan this year, including a record number of suicide bombings in the country.

NATO's International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) today issued a statement calling on all Afghans to stay away from NATO convoys.

Insurgents regularly attack NATO convoys in Afghanistan, and NATO soldiers have mistakenly fired on civilians, believing they were attackers.
