Tajikistan, China Sign Friendship Treaty

January 15, 2006 -- China and Tajikistan today signed a friendship and cooperation treaty in Beijing.

Tajik President Imomali Rakhmonov and his Chinese counterpart Hu Jintao inked the document after talks in Beijing. The two leaders also presided over the signing of other documents and vowed to bring bilateral ties to new heights.


Rakhmonov arrived in China on January 14 on a weeklong visit that is expected to focus on economic cooperation.
