Iraq Bans Photographers From Bomb Sites

Propaganda tool? (file photo) (epa) May 15, 2007 -- Iraqi police today barred news photographers and camera operators from the site of a bombing in Baghdad under a new government policy limiting media coverage of such attacks.
A senior official at the Interior Ministry, Abd al-Karim Khalaf, has denied the ban was a curtailing of press freedoms, saying it was aimed at preventing journalists from disturbing evidence, protecting the privacy of victims, and depriving militants of a possible propaganda tool.
